How to Get 100% Rating

To achieve 100% on a level, complete it with the following conditions:

No enemies killed. No civilians killed. No bodies found. No alarms triggered. No times detected by enemies.

How to Avoid Detection in Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory

Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory is a stealth shooter, so laying low, sneaking around, and breaking necks unnoticed play a key role in your success. If you go into battle guns blazing, you’ll quickly be flat on your back. Make deliberate and careful movements, and be as accurate as possible when using weapons. Several factors come into play as you attempt to evade enemies.

Stay Away From the Light

Sam’s suit has a sensor that shows you the current light level on his body, which is useful when using night-vision or heat-vision. This information is displayed in the lower-right corner of the screen.

Taking out lights with a silenced weapon will alert the guards that something is up, but they’ll normally just consider it a blown bulb. However, guards can detect the flash of your rifle firing, even in dark and seemingly safe locations.

Be as Quiet as Possible

Guards will hear you if you quickly open a door, shoot a light, walk too quickly, or drop off of a ledge without a soft landing. Voice communication between teammates while playing online is also a factor. If you talk too loudly, the guards will detect you.

Sound can also work in your favor. For example, tossing a bottle or can in the opposite direction creates a perfect diversion for you to either sneak by or creep up on a guard who has gone to investigate the noise.

The noise meter will not move while you walk around with your gun drawn.

Be Aware of Your Environment

Before using stealth mode to open a door, look under it with the optical camera, and then close the door behind you. Guards will notice any door that you leave open. The same goes for light switches and computers, so leave every area as it was when you entered it.

Save Your Game Often

You can save your game at any point, which can be helpful in many situations. For example, if you have eliminated the guards near a retinal scanner, save before you hack the scanner as an unsuccessful attempt will trigger an alarm. Saving after you have refilled your health is also a good practice.

Know What Moves You Can Perform

Review the in-game training videos to review all the moves at your disposal. There are a few maneuvers that you should use frequently.

Crouching

Press the B button to crouch. While in the crouched position, you’ll walk a bit slower, but you’ll make less noise and be harder to spot. Unless you are in an area that you are certain is free of threats such as guards or cameras, always move in the crouched position. Crouching also improves your aim.

Back to Wall

Click the left thumbstick while standing or crouched near a wall to stand up with your back against the wall. In this position, it is harder to be seen, and you can easily peer around corners.

Close Attacks

Using a weapon to kill an enemy is noisy, but close attacks are silent. When near an enemy (either behind or in front), press the right trigger to perform a lethal close attack. Alternatively, perform a non-lethal attack by pressing the left trigger in a similar situation. As some missions require that you do not kill anyone, it is important to know how to kill and how to knock out your opponent.

How to Hack Doors

Some doors have locks that can be broken or picked open, but others are electronically locked and need to be hacked (assuming you don’t have a guard captive that you can force to open the door for you).

The hacking screen has several lines of code on the left and four sets of changing numbers on the right. Disregard everything on the left side. Instead, focus on the numbers in the lower-right corner of the screen.

Use the left thumbstick on the controller to move between the four numbers. As each number lights up in bright green, press the X button to lock it in place. When all four numbers are locked in, the door opens.
