How to Enable Testing Cheats in The Sims Medieval

In addition to using codes, it’s possible to enable more cheats by editing one of the game’s files. The TestingCheatsEnabled feature, which is a staple of previous The Sims games, acts as a debugging tool. To enabled testing cheats:

Make sure the game isn’t running.

Locate the Commands.ini file on your computer. If you have trouble locating it, check your computer’s settings and make sure you don’t have system files hidden.

On a normal install of the game on Windows, the file is located in the following directory structure: C://Program Files/Electronic Arts/The Sims Medieval/Game Data/Shared/Nonpackaged/Ini/Commands.ini.

Copy the Commands.ini file to your desktop or somewhere else easy to locate.

Open the copied Commands.ini file with Notepad or another plain text editor. At the bottom of the file you should see the following line of text:

TestingCheatsEnabled=0

Windows users must have administrator permissions to modify the file.

Change the zero to a 1 so it looks like this:

TestingCheatsEnabled=1

Save the file wherever you placed it. When saving, select the file type dropdown arrow and choose All Files, not Text Files.

If you saved the file as Commands.ini.txt, right-click the file name to rename it and remove the trailing .txt.

Locate the original file again and rename it BACKUPCommands.ini. That way, you can revert in case anything goes wrong.

Move the edited Commands.ini file into the folder with the original.

Load the game, bring up the cheat console, and enter the following: testingcheatsenabled true.
